Cash for Work (CFW) and unconditional cash transfer (UCT), FUNDED BY FAO
Cash for Work (CFW) and unconditional cash transfer (UCT) drought response intervention implemented by Action relief Somalia (ARS) in Cabudwaaq district, Galgaduud region.
ARS is currently undertaking rehabilitation of water catchment and canals under the following villages in Abduwaaq district ( Dhumoodle, Xinjilab, Hogdugaag and Mirxeyle)
This activity implementation was made possible with funding and partnership with FAO Somalia.
The main objectives for this activity was to create job opportunities for increasing food availability and food access for drought effected communities in the affected district which targeted 720 households (600 CFW & 120UCT) with total beneficiaries . The project was set out to provide households with productive and compensated work opportunities, while allowing for the rehabilitation of water catchments.
There were 120 (68 Female & 52 Male) beneficiaries who beneficiated from Unconditional Cash Transfer reserved for who poor and vulnerable households who cannot afford to participate physically demanding tasks particularly the disadvantaged and vulnerable families especially lactating mothers, expecting mothers, people with chronic illness, disabled persons and elders both men and women who couldn’t get any support from either internal and external.
